Once your account is activated, you will be given a
unique ID (Secure Access Code). It works just like the
PIN number for your debit card. Simply dial our
toll-free number from anywhere and within seconds our
friendly telephone interpreting coordinators will
connect you with an interpreter in the requested
language. You need no special equipment—only a telephone
with 3-way calling or conference calling features. We
can assign different access codes for each of your
locations, departments or individual personnel. When you
are ready to initiate your Telephone Interpreting
session, follow these three simple steps:
1. Phone our call center and let our telephone
interpreting coordinator know what language interpreter
you need for telephone interpreting. If you don't know
what language your party speaks, you can show our
language identification card to your client. All your
client has to do is point at the language he or she
understands. When this is not possible, our telephone
interpreting coordinator will help you to determine the
correct language. More than 240 languages are currently
available. 
2. Identify yourself by giving our telephone
interpreting coordinator your ID. Let him/her know any
special instructions. Stay on the line and within
seconds an interpreter will be conferenced in.
3. Talk to your interpreter about your specific
telephone interpreting needs. Feel free to brief your
interpreter about the nature of the call and situation.
Let him/her know when to start the telephone
interpreting for you. At the end of the conversation
with your client, announce "End of Call," to indicate
that your interpreter is free to hang up.
You
can also make telephone interpreting request for a
future date. Just let your ASIST telephone interpreting
coordinator know the date and time and our interpreter
will
be
connected to you promptly. For a small, additional
per minute charge, we can initiate the call. You can
provide our operator with the telephone number of the
non-English speaking person you wish to contact. We will
then connect you to the interpreter and conference in
your client.
